My first love was sewing, I learnt how to cross stitch when I was 7 years old, and joined the Young Embroiderers Guild the same year. I learnt many different hand embroidery techniques for the 9 years I was a member.

I followed my love for textiles throughout my education, and when it came to looking at universities and which degree to study, none seemed quite right. I was looking at textile crafts, surface design, fashion design, and they all looked interesting but not for me. On a chance visit to the University of Huddersfield, I went to the last talk of the day for Costume with Textiles, and immediately knew that was the degree for me.

I worked extremely hard on my degree, but unfortunately life happens, and I wasn’t able to pursue a career in the costume world when I graduated.

It was at this point that I discovered knitting.

Intrigued by what two sticks and a ball of yarn can do, I have spent the last 10 years exploring this amazing craft and honing my skills.

Along the way I have found more crafts to occupy my time: crochet, spinning, weaving, felting, tatting, the list will continue on, because as soon as I see something new, I immediately want to know how it works!

But knitting is the craft that has given me the most comfort and satisfaction, I’m thinking about it quite often hence the name KnittedDayDreams!

My design ethos is: what do I want to make? Every pattern I design answers a need for a garment or accessory that I want/ need in my life, my target market is me, and people like me.

When I was studying for my degree, I learnt how important it is to make a costume fit an actor, any actor. They could be any shape or size, and we learnt how to make clothes fit real bodies, not a standard sample size. This is something that I have taken across to my knitting designs.

On my website you will find patterns I have designed, posts about knitting techniques, tips and tricks, and just somewhere that is my creative space.
